The Progressive Hive Mentality
The 24th century Borg, of Star Trek infamy, have a hive mentality and assimilate everyone in its path; 21st century progressives are eerily similar.
If you are not a Star Trek fan, the Borg are a race of cyborgs with a hive mentality hardwired into their brains and central nervous systems. A network connects all Borg brains with each other to achieve a collective groupthink. Borg are assigned numbers rather than names. No Borg thinks for itself and has no identity outside the hive. It is impossible to reason with them. When encountering other beings, they can only repeat their mantra: Prepare to be assimilated; resistance is futile.
The Borg present an unsettling example of full-fledged collectivism, arguably scarier than Huxley’s Brave New World and Orwell’s 1984. They provide a chilling insight into the collectivist mentality when carried to its logical conclusion. Borg offer other beings a stark choice between submitting or being forcibly assimilated. Once assimilated, all individuality is subsumed and they become drones.
The Borg hive is ruled by the Borg Queen, who solely determines what drones think and believe. They grow by assimilating others into the hive. The Borg see themselves as a force for good by eliminating strife, dissent and making everyone equal.
The Borg are like progressivism, communism, fascism, socialism, wokism, climate madness, wacko environmentalism and every other form of collectivism that forces its acolytes to think alike and to regard opposing views as heresy.
Substitute the word “progressive” for “Borg”; the similarities are stunning.
Progressives are the 21st Century Borg
Progressivism demands unflinching obeisance to its narratives as determined by politicians and the media - its equivalent of the Borg Queen. The progressive drones don’t think for themselves. They are connected to the hive and regurgitate the same talking points each day. It is impossible to reason with progressives; all they can do is recite the hive mantra and, of course, call their interlocutors hateful names.
Just like the Borg, progressives believe they will create a veritable utopia and that they (and only they) know what is best for all of us drones in flyover land. Instead, they create a moral tyranny - which may be the worst of all tyrannies.
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” C. S. Lewis
Progressives believe absurd contradictions, disdain facts, obsessively seek control over others and have antipathy for all who differ. However, life inside the progressive hive is very comfortable. There is no identity except hive identity, no values but hive values and no thoughts but hive thoughts.
Progressives Assimilate Our Institutions
Progressives have assimilated or corrupted most of America’s institutions including entertainment, media, education, science, sports, immigration, academia, corporations, fact-checkers, election systems, politics, economics, religion, military and social media. Like the Borg, progressivism seeks to assimilate everything in its path into its collectivist hive; they will not stop until all of us are drones.
Progressivism is non-relenting and close to assimilating all of America’s institutions. Their goal is to make everyone on Earth part of the hive. The outlook is bleak, but not without hope. We in the 21st century can be bucked up by events in the 24th century. In Star Trek, after many epic battles, humans eventually triumph over the Borg by exploiting their weaknesses - lack of individuality and groupthink.
More Liberty - Less Government will continue the good fight against progressivism and groupthink in all its myriad forms. Resistance is not futile!
